Eduardo Gonçalves


Is an industrial designer, based in Lisbon, who graduated from IADE in 2000, with and master’s in urban design from the Universitat de Barcelona (2006). Started working as a freelancer in graphic and industrial design from 1999 to 2008 and since 2003, teaches at IADE-Universidade Europeia in several courses and levels in Design. He began working in lighting design in 2001 and cofounded the studio Eclipz - lighting design in 2008. Working on several projects of various scales and typologies, ranging from residential homes to a city lighting master plan. Starts his PhD research in Design at the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon, in 2009, due to a necessity to grow as a professional, firmly rooted in the belief in the relationship between Design practice and Academia. Finishing his research in 2016, he is the author of several published scientific papers and has participation in national and international conferences. He is also a full member of the research unit UNIDCOM/IADE and was Executive Director from January 2018 to July 2021. Participated on several research projects, scientific committees of international conferences and is part of the editorial board and editorial advisory team in an international journal. Research interests are Sustainability; Industrial & Lighting Design; Design for Behaviour Change; Human Centred Design; Environmental Psychology, Analogue and Digital Modelling and Prototyping, and Statistics applied to Design.
