Bachelor's in Global Animation

The Bachelor's Degree in Global Animation offers comprehensive training in the areas of Audiovisuals and Media Production, with a special focus on 2D and 3D animation techniques and other global approaches to visual expression. 

This degree emphasises the Fine Arts, integrating subjects that deal with drawing and illustration, character development, sets and digital painting. 

The syllabus is structured in such a way as to have a balanced combination of theory and practice and with a methodology that aims to meet the needs of students throughout their academic experience, promoting a gradual and structured evolution of knowledge. 

At the end of the Bachelor of Arts in Global Animation, students will be able to develop a critical, comprehensive and organised vision of the various areas that make up the field of animation and thus build a national and international career, since it is taught in English.

Additionally, all students also receive, during their 3-year degree, the Adobe Pack.

Course director

Docente Pedro Mota

Pedro Mota Teixeira

Pedro Mota Teixeira holds a PhD in Communication Sciences, specializing in Audiovisuals, with a thesis in Digital Animation (University of Minho), a Master’s degree in Multimedia Art, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto). He was a scholarship holder and studied animation at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2001). He also developed a postdoctoral project at the University of Aveiro in animated film. He has regularly published and presented scientific works in the fields of cinema and animation.

He is co-founder and Organization Chair of the International Conference on Illustration and Animation CONFIA, since 2012. He holds the title of Specialist (according to Decree-Law 206/2009) in the disciplinary area of Audiovisuals, specializing in Animation, awarded by the consortium of the Northern Polytechnics and APD (Portuguese Design Association) since 2011. In addition, he is the director of Spiceship Studios, where he creates and directs animation and VFX projects. In this context, he has written, directed, and produced several short films, animated series, music videos, and special effects for cinema and television.

The course trains students for effective entry into the job market, while also giving them the chance to continue their studies in related areas such as Digital Design, Visual Communication and other aspects of animation.
