Filipe Figueiredo is an assistant professor at IADE European University and a researcher at UNICOM/IADE and at the Center for Theatre Studies (FLUL), where he co-coordinates the "Theatre and Image" research line. He has a Master's degree in Art History (FCHS/UNL), with studies centered on the work of Domingos Alvão and Portuguese photography in the first half of the 20th century, and a PhD in Artistic Studies (FLUL, 2016), with a thesis dedicated to the models and practices of theater photography in Portugal - "O Insustentável Desejo da Memória (1868-1974)" -, with an FCT scholarship. He has collaborated in various initiatives and projects at the crossroads of image studies, theater and performance studies and iconographic research and analysis, namely in the project OPSIS - Base Iconográfica de Teatro em Portugal (2008-10) (CET/FLUL) and is currently the lead researcher on the project PERPHOTO - Performing the gaze. Crossings between photography and theatre in Portuguese and international context (PTDC/ART-PER/31693/2017). She has taught at various visual arts schools (ESTAL, Atelier de Lisboa, Restart, World Academy) and develops photographic work related to the performing arts. He is dedicated to studying Photography and the History of Photography, Image and Visual Culture and, in particular, their intersection with the performing arts, areas in which he has signed several publications in magazines and books and promoted various scientific activities. He was co-curator of the exhibitions "Amélia" (2018) and "José Marques: fotógrafo em cena” (2019) at the D. Maria II National Theater.
