José Manuel Sotero is a PhD candidate in Digital Media at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University Lisbon, where he also earned his Master’s degree in Communication Sciences. He is currently a guest assistant professor at NOVA University, and co-organizer of the courses “Artificial Intelligence for Education”, promoted by iNOVA Media Lab (ICNOVA), and the MOOC “Generative Artificial Intelligence for Teachers”, in partnership with the Directorate-General for Education. As a doctoral researcher, José is affiliated with iNOVA Media Lab and OBI.Media, and is a founding member of the Social Observatory for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Data. He is also the project manager of the White Paper for Artificial Intelligence in Media and Journalism, a research initiative funded by the European Media and Information Fund (EMIF) with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. José maintains a strong connection with industry, working as AI Integration Manager at FullSix (Havas Group Portugal) coordinating the AI Lab initiative, and as a consultant in projects focused on diagnosing and integrating AI tools into production processes, particularly in the preparation of hybrid teams.
