IADE is the first creative school in Portugal to incorporate a cross-curricular course on AI

October 26 2026

The initiative encompasses 25 programs and aims to prepare students for a job market where technology is already transforming processes, roles, and work models.

The School of Design, Technology, and Communication at Universidade Europeia (IADE) has, since the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, a new course on Applied Artificial Intelligence in all on-campus bachelor’s programs and most on-campus master’s programs, making it the first creative school in Portugal to adopt AI across its entire academic offerings.

The integration of AI into the creative industries has fueled debate about the technology’s impact on authorship and professional roles. In this regard, IADE takes a clear stance: Artificial Intelligence should be viewed as a tool at the service of creatives, capable of fostering experimentation, optimizing tasks, and freeing up time for the areas where human contribution adds the most value. The training program therefore aims not only to teach students how to use these tools but also to help them understand their potential, their limitations, and the implications of using them critically and responsibly.
